Simulation and optimization solutions now available at ZIMMY, China

Digital engineering specialist ZIMMY is now distributing SIMCON’s plastic injection molding simulation and optimization software CADMOULD and VARIMOS in China.

Simulation and optimization solutions now available in China

Renowned plastic injection molding simulation specialist SIMCON announced today that it has reached a distribution and service agreement with CAE and engineering services specialist ZIMMY. ZIMMY will engage in regional marketing and sales, and provide local technical support for CADMOULD, SIMCON’s cutting-edge injection molding simulation software, as well as the unique automatic optimization solution VARIMOS. ZIMMY will therefore join SIMCON’s reseller team for the Chinese Market.

SIMCON continues to expand in Asia

“China has become a global center of engineering and manufacturing excellence. As a part of the impressive rise of Chinese manufacturing in the past decades, more and more engineers are working on solving the toughest and most challenging plastics manufacturing challenges,” explains Sebastian Sutter, head of international business development. “Our software helps engineers digitalize the design of parts, molds and injection processes. Our customers save a lot of time and money by using our software solutions. They shorten their development cycles, reduce costly correction loops, and get better first-time-right results. This gives them better quality and faster time to market. We are excited to work with ZIMMY to make the best German plastics engineering technology available to our customers in China.”

Unique automation and optimization technology

ZIMMY CEO Dr. Oliver Yu is particularly excited about offering SIMCON’s world-leading automated optimization technology VARIMOS to customers. “SIMCON’s solutions are a great addition to our CAE portfolio. We find that a lot of our customers want to explore many different ways of manufacturing a plastic-injection-molded parts. They want to use simulation to virtually test better solutions, and they want to make sure that what they are designing is robust. With VARIMOS, you can automate this. You can test many injection molding alternatives virtually, which is faster and cheaper than trying it in real life. But they don’t want to set up all of those simulations one by one, which is slow and tedious. You should automate this. VARIMOS helps you to automatically set up many simulation variants, run them in parallel, summarize the results of all simulations, and find an optimal decision. There’s nothing else quite like it in the market.”

“In fact, this is why several of the leading German car manufacturers and their suppliers use it in their part and mold design process,” adds SIMCON CEO Dr. Paul Filz. “Instead of wasting precious engineering time on trying many variants one by one, they let the artificial intelligence in VARIMOS do the busywork, and focus the engineering teams on discussing results and options. You need people to make decisions and resolve tradeoffs between competing goals, and not to waste their time doing no-value-added busy-work. Discussion with customers and decision-making in a team is the part that only humans can do.”

As its computation engine, VARIMOS uses SIMCON’s simulation software CADMOULD, which simulates comprehensive injection results. Engineers use it to anticipate and fix filling issues, as well as shrinkage and warpage, to improve injection molded parts, molds and process parameters. They also use it to optimize fiber orientations for mechanical applications, like crash-testing etc.

Powerful simulation engine and customizable packages

Thanks to CADMOULD’s modular design, there is a range of packages for different needs. Customers can buy the exact functionality that they require for their projects. No need to pay for features you do not need.
Because CADMOULD has the world’s leading 3D-F injection molding simulation algorithm, it is incredibly fast and precise at the same time. Its unrivalled speed is the foundation for being able to run optimization with VARIMOS, because optimizing requires running many simulations, to explore the options. Thanks to CADMOULD’s multi-core CPU parallelization technology, running a large number of simulations is incredibly fast and efficient. CADMOULD also supports 3D Volumetric meshing, in case you are working with particularly thick-walled parts like optical lenses. “We invite you to see the speed for yourself in a demo. For most of our customers, there is no need for expensive hardware upgrades. You can get going right away!”, says Dr. Oliver Yu.
